This month it was great to escape the summer heat of Andalucia and travel north to the Cantabrian coast. I’ve always loved this part of Europe. It’s a special corner of Spain, with a Celtic culture and scenery reminiscent of Scotland.
Feve operates a number of private trains, and the undisputed ‘flagship’ is the stunning Transcantabrico GranLujo. You can choose to travel from San Sebastian to Santiago de Compostela; or the other direction. It idles through the verdent landscape of northern Spain taking a week to complete the route.
