During our time living in the Cape Winelands this year, we made a point to disover Franschhoek, a toruisty yet charming wine town. We were fortunate enough to be invited to enjoy lunch at Ryan’s Kitchen, on the Main Street as you come into the town.
Today my restaurant review profile was published – you can read it on The Luxury Editor.
The drive through the winelands from Stellenbosch is a beautiful one – the Franschhoek valley is quite outstanding.
At his smart, elegent yet informal restaurant, Ryan Smith showcases contemporary South African cuisine.
He relishes the challenge of such a melting pot of culinary cultural influences with a menu designed for sharing. The simply presented menu of small plates and bigger plates gives little indication of the subtle complexity of each dish.
Traditional ingredients and recipes have been given a thoroughly modern make-over.
